Democratic Lemmings

Barack Obama heads to New Hampshire, and if the disparate responses he and Hillary received at the New Hampshire Democratic Party's 100 Club dinner is any indication, he is riding a groundswell of support and could end up being the Dem's candidate. All this for a man who talks a big talk but does not walk a big walk.

Obama's actual accomplishments as Senator are few and far between. Other than the ability to speak well he offers nothing of substance. Grandiose speeches highlighting utopian ideals are not the basis of a great leader. His actual performance as an Illinois Senator is poor; according to the Washington Post, he has missed over a third of his votes in the Senate (37.6%), and he is known in Illinois as an absentee Senator, especially since he started his run for President.

The Democrats are running on a platform of change, and he espouses this as well as any other candidate, but what is this change they are talking about? What, the Iraq war situation improving, low taxes, low inflation, and an unprecedented period of economic growth aren't good enough for you? In the foreign policy area, we now have pro American governments in both France and Germany, and we continue to be the largest provider of any nation of economic aid around the globe. And we have not been attacked on our soil by terrorists since 9-11, courtesy of the policies of our current president who has kept us secure despite what all these liberals say about "stirring up the hornet's nest."

All of this Chicken Little talk from the Democrats is disingenuous — the only change I see coming from them is higher taxes, more welfare resulting in less self-reliance, an economic downturn as their policies hamper business productivity, and less security as they withdraw troops from important areas and start wielding carrots instead of sticks.

There's a good chance Obama could be elected president, as the Republicans have not managed their campaigns well and their choice of candidates leaves a little to be desired. Hillary Clinton, who was the only Democratic candidate who would have been strong on national security issues looks to be out of the running. The Democrats are like lemmings, pinning their hopes on a man who is inexperienced, naive, and likely will lead them over a cliff to disaster. The sad thing is that they may take all of us with them.

Hillary Bounces Back

The adults have spoken in New Hampshire, and despite what I said in my earlier post, it looks like she's not out of the running after all. I don't plan to vote for either Hillary or Obama if one of them clinches the nomination, but it is refreshing to see the Obama camp take a bit of a hit for once.

The Obama groundswell seems to be coming from younger voters who think he's "cool." That's certainly not a good reason to vote someone into the presidency. These younger voters don't earn enough money to be hit by the most troubling aspects of Obama's economic plans, which would result in a possible tax rate of 55 percent for anyone who earns over $102,000. I don't earn that much money, but if I worked hard and somehow did increase my income to that level, I would hate to be punished monetarily for my hard work. That's something these kids just don't understand.

Kos Writer Delusional

I was just reading the Daily Kos when I came across this quote, from a poster identified as Bill...

"There's really nothing of substance Republicans can point to that has worked. Not in education, defense, security, energy, foreign policy, fiscal policy, infrastructure, health care, planet care, science...nuthin'."
What a load of fertilizer. It shows a total ignorance of the fact that we have not been attacked on our soil since 9-11, 52 months of uninterrupted economic growth, low inflation, pro-American governments coming to power in France and Germany, and the recent success of the Iraq surge. The science reference I don't get, unless they are referring to the stem cell research debate, in which case they are wrong again, as Bush held the line against them taking our tax dollars to promote the use of aborted fetuses in science.

The Daily Kos posters consistently bend anything to fit their idealogy with little objectivity, and this post is just another in a long line of posters believing what they want, in spite of the evidence otherwise.
